How To Make Mr. John Commit For Work

The most serious problem that India faces is the need for skilled workers who commit themselves for work. Either a worker is not skilled or committed. If he is skilled, the pride of being skilled veils his good character of being committed. He thinks that if he showcases his commitment then it would be a sign of submission to his superiors. Managers find it difficult to handle such kind of workers.

One way to handle these people would be to delegate responsibilities. They are good when they are given responsibilities. They would feel that the pros and cons of the outcome of a task completely depend on them rather than on the manager or someone who is above him.

Delegating responsibility and bringing in abstraction of the task will yield good results provided the workforce involved is skilled. The impact of the mistakes on the outcome of the task will also be minimal.

My Boss Wants Me To Give A Presentation

People are comfortable in learning things but when it comes to presentation, they just think that it is something out of their comfort zone. But that is not true. By practice, you will get to know the fact that presentation is as easy as learning and also the fact that presentation skills are not in-borne but could be acquired through practice. In this article, I will explain the do's and don'ts of presentation, which is going to help you in your forthcoming presentation sessions.

BEFORE THE PRESENTATION:

When you get ready for a presentation, the first and the foremost thing you need to do is, plan your presentation. Ask for the duration of the presentation and plan the content accordingly and the content should fit into the given period of time. Mind about the audience and prepare your content accordingly. Your audience might be professionals, students, managers, teachers or laymen. Your preparation should grab their attention towards you and your session shouldn't bore anybody in the presentation hall. Be prepared to say some anecdotes, or small case studies to explain a theoretical concept. Your content should be well organised and when you speak, you should reflect the same by giving an organised speech. Before entering the hall make sure you look fresh with a neat dress and a smiling face.

DURING PRESENTATION:

Before you start the presentation, make your audience comfortable by asking questions about their breakfast or lunch accordingly. This will let them think that you are a comfortable person to approach rather than a rough guy or girl. Ask your audience to give a short introduction about themselves and bring some humour into the frame. After that, when you introduce yourself, you need to show them your expertise in the subject to be discussed by giving some attractive statistics about your experience in the subject, your awards, achievements etc. This will bring interest in the audience's minds to listen to your words. Before starting the presentation, clearly brief the purpose of the presentation in a crispy manner. Express your thoughts to the point. It is very important to set the theme of the presentation before starting. After this, demonstrate the benefits that they would be getting from this presentation. This will increase the interest of the listeners on your presentation. Use some attractive words to describe the benefits that they are going to get.

The words that you use to represent your ideas are very much important in a presentation. Appropriate words are extremely important for a presentation. The presentation might be a technical presentation or a business presentation or any other kind of presentation but the appropriate words must be used to address the subject of discussion. Don't speak fast. Speak in an audible voice. Try not to repeat a particular word as it would become funny. Make your presentation more interactive by encouraging the audience to answer rather than just presenting your ideas in a one way manner. Encourage them to take notes as it is human nature to forget things soon. If it is not a very big presentation hall, just keep walking back and forth from the stage to the last row as you continue with the presentation and you can even sit with the audience for a while during the presentation. This will show them that you are a human being and not an alien who came down from another planet.

When you present your ideas, try to give as many relevant statistics as much as possible and be very specific about your facts and ideas. For example, if you want to tell about a survey, don't just say, like, an university conducted a survey where....etc etc.. You need to specify the exact name of that university, the place, the survey team's name etc.. This will show your confidence and knowledge in that particular subject. Bring humour into the subject which would make them laugh and lets you and your audience keep going together. If something goes wrong with the audience's behaviour, you must be capable of getting the session back on track. This is one of the most essential qualities that a leader should possess to become a good presenter.

AFTER PRESENTATION:

Complete the presentation, and wait for queries and wipe out the ambiguity in the audience's minds. Give feedback forms and encourage them to fill out what they really think about you. Give your contact number or email to let them contact you demonstrating that you are really approachable.

Turn Your Website Into A Business Model

In the previous article, I explained you the importance of starting a website and get your hands on to the online business world. I also asked you to wait for a business model for your website. It's time to do some research into the revenue generating part of your lovable website. Websites can be of two types, say, they sell manufactured products or sell intangible content. Quite simple! Isn't it? When I say intangible content, it includes, articles, photos, videos, and other stuff. If you are selling a tangible product through your website, you can just skip this article as this article is only for someone who sell their content or plan to sell content because they are not going to manufacture anything. I would appreciate if you continue to read since you will find something useful for your business.

IT'S ALL ABOUT ADVERTISEMENTS:

Now, how can you generate revenue from a website which has some hundreds of articles, tutorials and other stuff? Either you can build a payment wall for your content by asking your visitors to pay for accessing your content or you can just let them access it for free and you can earn from a different route. I would recommend the second one as hardly people like to pay for content. Alright, now what is that different route which can bring you money without charging your visitors? The answer is ADVERTISEMENTS.  You can place someone else advertisements in your site which would pay you much for your living. There are millions out there to pay you for placing their advertisements on your site so that they get benefited. This is a win-win situation.

There are different kinds of advertisements. They are given some attractive names and they come in different forms and follow different payment methods. I will brief about each now.

DIRECT ADVERTISING:

Once your website becomes popular, people would jostle each other to advertise in your website and they will be ready to pay a huge amount for a small button image of their company name in your site. You need to contact the advertiser and get the text or images to be displayed in your site and publish it in your site to get paid periodically based on your contract. This is direct advertising. Apart from this, there are other ways of advertising, where an agency is in between the advertiser and the publisher. Advertisers register themselves to those agencies and ask them to publish their images and text ads. This agency, in turn, gives those content to publishers like you to publish it and get paid for it. Your payment will be received from the agency and there would be no contact between the advertiser and the publisher.

Now, if you don't like to wait for your site to become popular or you don't want to have direct contact with the advertisers, it is better to go for the indirect advertising programmes which I will explain now.

PAY-PER-CLICK ADVERTISING:

In pay-per-click advertising, you are given with some text and image advertisements and you need to publish those in your website and you will get paid whenever a visitor of your website clicks on the advertisement. You will be paid in cents for each click. It may even go up to a couple of dollars or even more. Programs like this are provided by Google AdSense, Bidvertiser, etc

AFFILIATE PROGRAMS:

In affiliate programs, the advertiser's products are displayed in your website and if someone clicks it from your website and purchase the product, you will be eligible for a commission for that sale. There are hundreds of such programs out there online and the only thing is, you have to choose a program based on the theme of your website. Websites like Amazon, eBay, provides such programs.

RESIDUAL INCOME PROGRAMS:

There are some amazing affiliate programs which not only pay us whenever our site leads to a sale for them but also whenever that particular customer lead by us renew their subscription every year with our advertiser. This will give us a long term income. Some sites like Lifetime commissions, provide this program.

This Is The Right Time To Go Online And Start A Business

Internet is becoming a part of our lives nowadays and in the near future I would say, everybody on the earth will have an Internet connection with a computer in his/her home. This is of course a good news. One more good news is you are left to think about how you can build your own business based on this fact. This is the right time for you to get your hands on in online business which is something good that you are doing for your future. People who became millionaires because of online business were people who started their business in the transition period. A transition period is when people start to accept a particular technology and start using it with interest. Google became the god father of search engines when people were searching for a tool where they can get organized information. When you give people more than what they exactly expect you would be the king in that business. So, if you have an out-of-box-idea then, you are ready to earn millions of dollars. Particularly in India, the Internet transition has started and it is still in the premature stage and the market is really huge. Lot of people are waiting for your idea to enjoy experiencing it.

UNCONVENTIONAL:

You might be wondering what the hell I am talking about, something like online business..? What is that? How to do it?? Alright, Don't worry. Today you have landed in the right place. I will take you into the online business world slowly by explaining things in a simple manner. OK, now let's come to our discussion
of starting an online business. In olden days, when people wanted to start a business they had to invest a huge sum of money and build factories, hire labourers, manufacture products, transport them to dealers and lots of other stuffs. But now, believe me, starting an online business needs nothing of the listed above!!! Amazing , isn't it? Even you don't need to invest!!! Your investment can be a big ZERO!!!

Now I am going to tell you what exactly I want you to do to start an online business. It is nothing but, 'Start your Website' today. When I say website, it can be a custom developed website or even a blog like what I have. If you develop a website, you need to spend some bugs to bring it out as a complete beautiful website. In case, if you go for a blog, it would take 5 minutes to create a blog. Hundreds of tools are out there online to build your blog to a wonderful product for your visitors.

My teacher use to say this often, that the last era was an industrial era and this is a knowledge era. In knowledge era, people who have out-of-box ideas and passion to work on those ideas can get to the top in a short period of time. They don't need to wait for decades to become millionaires unlike the old industrial era. You don't need to sell your products by marketing at the door step coz Internet takes care of the job. You don't need to hire anybody or don't need to manage labour problems and after all you don't need to have an Office!!! Everything becomes virtual. You just be the sole owner of your site or you can form a small group of your friends and invest a few bugs to get started. Believe me, in Internet, you are exposing your idea to billions of people around the world and the number is increasing day by day.

HOW TO START:

Before telling you how to start, I would like to clarify one of the most common questions that people ask me when I talk about website. DO I NEED TO BE AN EXPERT IN COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE? The answer is a big NO!!! Will you not be surprised if I say that my brother started his own blog and he is just 12 years? But that is true. I always reiterate that this is not an era where you write your JAVA or C or C++ programming code from scratch. Everything has already been done. You are just going to use them in the form of user friendly tools.

Now, coming to the most important point, what are you going to present in your website for your visitors? As I told you if you have a good idea to implement you can directly go and do it or if you are yet to frame your ideas then think for a moment before choosing a concept. There are a lot of concepts out there like social networking sites, content creation sites like wikipedias, encyclopedias, consulting sites, etc. You need to choose an area which you are very much interested. If you are a good writer, go for a blog and post your contents daily in the form of articles and advertise it to people. But, your content should be original and people should get something useful from your content. You need to engage your readers by useful activities and your engagement in your website should also be consistent. All I would say is , the first key to choose your theme for your website is choosing based on your passion.

The second important point is, try to choose a theme that would help wider audience in a long term. In other words, the theme or the concept of your website should be useful for your audience for at least another 4 to 5 decades or even more. In addition to this, try to choose a theme that has wide audience. Say, if you choose a theme something related to high quality writing, you are targeting the highly educated people. If you choose a theme like advertising and selling music albums, you are targeting a huge audience. The same thing applies for social networking sites and this is the the reason why they have become famous in a very short period of 4 to 5 years.

All the famous websites which are earning in millions of dollars are very young when compared to old industries which earn equal amount. Even social networking sites like Facebook, Myspace, Orkut, Twitter, were started just before 4 to 5 years. They are millionaires now. I know some of website owners who just sit and work from home earning  60,000 to 70,000 dollars a year after 6 to 7 years of online business experience. You should be patient to reach this mark. I am not revealing a secret that would make you a millionaire overnight. I am just exposing you to a new way of doing business and earning money in a short period of time unlike conventional business.

OK, I understand, now you will have a number of questions for me. Alright buddy! I have started a website with an idea and launched it? How will I earn money from this? Are you crazy? .... My answer for your questions would be wait for the next article. I will explain you how to transform a website into a wonderful business model.

Do You Balance?

I always talk about the 'balance' factor whenever I come across the word, 'leadership' and of course, this factor is not given importance as against other qualities of leadership. People miss this word 'balance' to be included in the curriculum of leadership when they teach about leadership. It is the most essential quality that a leader should possess.

In a real world scenario, an individual has to play different roles like professional, father, teacher, friend, to name a few. He cannot follow a defined set of rules to resolve the issues he confronts in his journey. He should deal accordingly with different people. He cannot demonstrate a professional behavior to his family or to a friend. A balanced approach comes into the frame now and it is the only approach to make him move up his career ladder. For a leader, there are no defined set of rules to be followed in his career path and he has to frame dynamic rules himself to deal with different people in different ways, which depends on the person whom he deals with. Suppose he is working for a reputed organization, even if he is at the top of the hierarchy, he should be able to remove his management coat and condescend down to the level of his subordinates. He should be capable of prioritizing his commitments so that at the end of the day he must have satisfied all his stakeholders of life.

CORPORATE-SPECIFIC ILLUSTRATION:

Put a management cap and look from the management perspective, you will be surprised to see that the same applies for management also. A manager cannot stick on to a defined set of rules to take a management decisions. Say, he cannot deal with Chinese and Americans in the same way as there are a lot of factors need to be considered like culture, emotional quotient etc. Again the balance factor comes into frame and it is the one and only way to get through.

IMPORTANCE OF LOGIC:

Now, here comes the most valuable truth which if followed would give you astonishing results. Imagine that you are in a position to solve a particular problem and you are given with a set of standards or procedures to follow to get a better result. What will you do now? If you are to follow the set of procedures or standards blindly, then that will serve its purpose but would not nourish your mind (technically, brain!). You need to come out with your own set of ideas to solve that particular problem and in turn you will come to know why such procedures have been provided to you. In this way, you can train your mind to think, as said by Albert Einstein and innovate productively for your organization.

LOGIC Vs STANDARDS:

You might wonder why I am taking you to a different track instead of traveling in the ‘balance’ subject track. Here is the answer. Okay, now you have come up with your own set of ideas to solve that problem. What can be done now? The next step is to compare your logic with the standards or procedures that are readily available. Resonate your ideas with standards and try to improve your own ideas up to the standards level, if you think your ideas lag behind the current standards. Now, you are maintaining a balance between your thinking and the standards. A question might flash in your mind. Anyway I am going to follow the standards then why should I think by myself? The answer is obvious. How do you think people developed standards? A standard is nothing but a product obtained after continuous refinement of an idea or set of ideas. If your idea exceeds our current standard then happily you can help your organization refine the current standards to improve productivity. Common sense and logic plays a vital role in developing an organization.

A LEADER:

A leader has to be a role model for the rest of him and he should be a confidant, who develops confident in his team and superiors that if a work is delegated to him, he would complete it with perfection. He should approach and be approachable with ease. The more hearts he conquers the more he moves up the corporate ladder. After all, even if he is at the top of the ladder, he should remain the same sweet guy as when he was at the bottom!!!

Just 3 Steps For Physical Fitness

I have been dealing with physical fitness for the past 7 years and I have given lot of fitness tips and training to my friends and of course it worked well. I don't train commercially but just friendly. OK, now here we go.
Is there anyone on this earth who doesn't want to be attractive and physically fit? Certainly none. We all dream a lot but do we work for our dreams? Do we really put some effort to make our dreams come true? Only a handful of us do that. Those who did put efforts reaped the benefits. Now, you are here to see how this does work.

When you fire a query on physical fitness in Google search you will find thousands of weight training materials, fitness guides, pills for fat reduction which are Greek and Latin. You will be confused to choose one from thousand and even the situation worsens if you ask a group of people. Each one would post his or her unique option which would reduce your possibility of narrowing down to one good option. Now, What if, you have a common strategy that works for all, irrespective of their weight, height, health condition, to be physically fit? Yes, this is what you are going to learn now. I will try to keep things simple. No big deals, the following are the three steps I am talking about,

1. WALK OR RUN
2. PUSH UPS AND PULL UPS
3. CRUNCHES

that's it. Is it not simple compared to all those pills, training materials and fitness guides? It's not a prediction, remember, it is an essence of reality that I found from my long 7 years of work outs.
Now, I will tell you who should do what. If you are a young guy below 30, then it's good to go with all the three. If you are too fat then start your work out just by walking for an hour at least a day. Then gradually do half walk and half run. Then migrate to complete running. From running, I mean to say jogging or slow running. If you are above 30 then consult with a physician to choose between walk or run. This initial step is common for all ladies and gentlemen on the earth irrespective of their age and body condition. Running will not only reduce your fat content but also keeps you away from heart attack and various other health hazards.

The second and third steps are for the active young guys and girls, for which I assume people below 30. Push ups and pull ups are the most amazing and natural exercises that give you a petty good result which last long forever. If you do weight trainings in gym for a period of 6 months and if one day, due to work constraints you are forced to stop the work out for a month, then your body would loose strength and shape.

You would feel the weakness soon since you are training had trained it artificially rather than naturally. Do you think there were sophisticated Gyms in olden days where warriors and soldiers practiced? No. Their trainings were natural. Even now in defence, they follow the natural strategy like mountain climbing, push ups, pull ups, running with a bag weighing 25 kilogram rather than sitting in a gym with dumb bells to train their biceps. Do as many pull ups and push ups as possible. Girls has a separate style for doing this.

The third step is an optional one. It is for guys and girls who want a flat stomach. Start gradually by doing 10 for each set up to 3 sets and increase up to your capability. This is also for guys who loves to have six packs. That's it for fitness. You must do anything and everything gradually. Don't do 50 push ups on the first day. you can't wake up the next morning. Change should be injected into your body gradually since I always insist on natural way of doing things. You must keep in mind that nothing will come to you overnight. You have to work hard and sacrifice something to get something.

Ten Points To Become a Perfect Individual

You might have heard statements claiming a guy or a girl to be perfect and you might have wondered what perfection means. Most of the time we hear this word and of course we had some eagerness to know what is perfection and how to be perfect and whom to call a perfect guy or girl.

Well, you are here to understand what perfection is. Here are ten points for you to become perfect in your life. These points are not just words but are essence of ideas that has the power to give much more meaning to your valuable life. Please consider each and every word of the following statements that you are going to see. You will understand the importance once you analyse them deeply. No big deals, they are simple points to remember. Okay, here we go.

CONFIDENCE:

The most commonly used word but only a few, who are destined to greatness, understand the importance of this word and follow it in their lives. Don't just think this as a common word uttered by people around you, but this is the one which constructs the base for your perfection. If you lack confidence, you lack everything. confidence is having the attitude of a winner. You should have the "can-do" attitude. You should never ever fear for silly things on the earth. You should say, "I can do it","It is after all simple","If others can do why can't me?". Having this base set, you can move to the next point.

PASSION AND CONCENTRATION:

The next point is passion and concentration. Don't do things because you have to. Do it with passion and concentration. Converge your entire energy on that single work. I have written a separate post on the importance of focus in my blog. If you play the game of football, you should have point #1, that is confidence and then point #2. You should play with passion and concentration and should not let your mind to divert to something else.

LOVE:

The next most important point is the very famous 'love'. Love yourself, love what you do, love what you see. That is it for success. Love everything. Then comes humbleness. People always love to interact with humble minds. People who are wise are always humble and they don't need advertisements for their knowledge. It will be revealed in appropriate times. This is the only life you have and in that, keep yourself and others happy. Each and every second is passing in your life and try to create love and happiness around you. Please do not let your life to be a money driven one. Spend time with someone who means a lot to you.

HUMOUR AND FRIENDLINESS:

Humour should be a part of your habit. Only if you express humour, you will be approachable. People should not be afraid to come and talk to you. Condescend down to any level and talk with friendliness. Whoever it may be, respect them as they are also human being like you. Put their shoes and treat them as you want others to treat you. In this busy and stressful life, the only thing that is going to keep you fresh is smile.

LEADERSHIP:

Here comes the next wonderful term called 'leadership'. This is the quality that can keep you moving up your career ladder. A leader is the one who can manage others and can be managed by any other. A leader has all the qualities of points from #1 to #4. He is lovable and can talk to different persons in different ways to influence them and get the work done.

BALANCE FACTOR:

The next most important point that most of us lack is the 'balance' in everything. You need to know how to balance your work and personal life. You should know how to balance you time. You should know to prioritize things, like, what should be done first according to that situation. You should never be at the extremes like sticking on to the same strategy for work and home. You should know how to treat family members, friends, peers, seniors, labours and many others.

LEARNER:

You must have a learner's attitude in your life. You should respond to what others say. You should receive and interpret what others say to you. A know-it-all will spoil your career and will drop you from the minds of people around you. Always have a open mind for learning anything. Keep your mind cups empty to fill something in it anytime.

KEEP THE SPIRIT ALIVE:

One more important point that would make you stand apart from others is to keep the spirit alive always. You should never get bored of or fed up with what you do. Do it with passion till you achieve it. For example, if you start to exercise from today with a group of ten friends, you will find the decreasing count as days pass. At last hardly a couple of would still have the spirit in you and only that two will reap the benefit of being physically fit. This is what I call keeping spirit alive.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT OTHERS:

One obstacle that always stops us from achieving something big is thinking about the consequence of failure. What others would think if I fail? Don't let this bother you anymore. Do your duty, success will follow you. Never ever worry what others think about you. They have their own problems to deal with.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT:

Self-analysis or introspection is the key to success. Know about yourself. Tune yourself to perfection day by day. Sit and analyse what you did today. Don't worry for failure. See it as a lesson that you had learnt to correct yourself or tune yourself to perfection. Analyse your mistakes daily and make sure they never occur in the future. Continuous improvement is something like, if you can do 25 push ups today, make sure it does not go below 25 tomorrow!

Tips to crack CAT examination

When I started to prepare for CAT 2008, there were no books which completely explain the steps to be followed to crack the damn CAT (Common Admission Test) conducted by one of the IIMs in India to get into the prestigious IIMs. Anyway I was successful in finding out a book but that didn't satisfy my apetite. Now, I have decided to share some useful points that I learned when I was preparing for CAT. This will surely help lakhs of aspirants who dream of getting through the exam, which is considered to be the toughest.

People, mostly students, think that CAT is the most toughest exam in India and it is not possible for avarage people to get into IIMs or other top B-schools. Even I was thinking this when I started to prepare but I found that It is quite wrong. Anyone who has the fire in him to crack it would eventually do it. Ok, Now I would be explaining you about how to prepare each and every section of the test, how to take exams and some good strategies to follow.

PREPARATION:

If you ask me, when should I start to prepare for the exam, I would say 1 year before the exam. But If you start before 3 or 4 months, then also you don't need to worry. The only thing is you need more practice than your friends who started long back. For people who start before 2 or 3 years I would recommend them not to learn things from exam perspective. Just learn just like that. Read novels, newspaper, magazines, casually without having the preparation attitude. Try to improve your english because, logical resoning and quants can be prepared and learnt soon but english has to be developed gradually. Go for vocabulary books like, "Word Power", "All about words" etc, and grammar books like wren and martin. Improve your vocabulary throught contextual reading. Don't just memorise 300 to 400 words. This will never help you. Read for facts and by the way learn words and don't do the reverse.

People who have one year to 6 months for the exam can start to prepare section wise. Give more importance to the section which you lag behind. If you find difficulty in all the sections, you have to work hard. GIve equal importance to all the sections and work on each section in alternative weeks or even alternate days. It's upto you to decide.

Start with basics and be thorough with all the concepts. Without the basic tools you cannot work on a problem. So, make sure that you are thorough with your formulas, grammar and other stuff. Then start to practise, practise and practise. The more you are exposed to problems, the more likely you will get through the CAT exam. Take full length question papers for test. Sit and take test similar to a CAT environment. Remember, you should review your answers and analyse each and every mistake you did. This is the most important activity that most of us forget to do. This is where you can make yourself different from others.
Lot of people ask a question, "Do I need a coaching centre for preparation?". Answer depends on the type of person. If you are energetic and have an out-of-box strategy to work out your plans then you don't need a coaching centre. But, if you need someone to guide you then it is always recommended to enroll yourself. Ok, now let us see how to work on each section.

QUANTS:

The quantitative aptitude section has a lot to learn since it covers a wide variety of topics. But, if you look deep, they are just simple mathematical calculations based on common sense and logic. While working on the quants section, keep in mind that, you should try to solve the problem logically or through common sense without calculations. If it doesn't work then go for calculations. This would save you a lot of time and make you stand out of others. One more point is you should always avoid your pen and paper, which means you should calculate in your mind rather than writing down. If not 100%, try for atleast 70%. Concentrate more on number systems, geometry and progressions. Your questions will mostly stick on to numbers.I recommend Arun Sharma's quantitative aps book. It is an amazing book.

LOGICAL REASONING & DI:

Reasoning and data sufficiency don't need much preparation but more practice is necessary. It deals with the common problems that you face in your day-to-day life like cricket matches, going to theatre with your frineds, etc. In this section, data interpretaion is most important. If you concentrate on that and practce well, you will crack this section.

ENGLISH:

This is the nightmare for most of the students who appear for CAT. But is is quite easy to crack. You need to get 40% in each section to crack the CAT. So, concentrate more on reading comprehension and some vocabulary part. This will help you in cracking this section. In reading comprehension, you need to read between lines. Your reading should not just scan through the lines but should be able to understand what the author wants to express. I urge you to read 'The Hindu' editorial page daily to improve yourself in this section. And remember, while reading, instead of reading word by word, read phrase by phrase which would increase your reading speed. I also recommend you to subscribe to dictionary.com 'word of the day'. They send you a standard word daily and its perfect usage. This will really help you in your vocabulary part and contextual usage part.

TEST:

To crack CAT, you need to clear the sectional cut off and also overall cut off. So, it is mandatory that you need to perfom equally well in all the three sections. Allot time accordingly. Allot more time to your weaker sections. Generally, i would recommend to allot more time to DI section since it involves a lot of calculations. First attend the section in which you are strong as this will not only help you in time constraints but also increase your confidence level. If you don't have idea about a question, just move on. Attend the questions which are familiar to you. The tactics is to find out the easy questions among the set of questions and grab the marks easily in a short time. This comes only by practice. The common mistake that students do is failing to read all the questions. Never evr do that. The easy questions might be hiding at the last and you would be deceived.

Practice, practice, practice is all what I want you to do. After each practice, make sure you have corrected atleast a mistake and tuned yourself to perfection. Don't aim for a college or percentile, just concentrate and do the best in your CAT exam and you will reap the benefits. Apart from all these, the only thing that would take you to an IIM is CONFIDENCE. Don't lose your confidence. Be cool always. When you are tensed the solution will not be visible. It will be hidden behind the questions that you see but your tensed mind would block you from seeing that. This is the essence of idea I got from my experience. Read a self motivating article now

'Sorry, I Forgot' Is Not A Good Response

Forgetfulness is commonly seen among people nowadays since the days are becoming busy for us as time moves on. I don't see everybody remembering their commitments and completing them in time and rewarded with compliments. Whenever I delegate a work to someone and ask for a positive response, his/her reply would be, "sorry, I forgot to do it". I don't think this as a very good answer for a person who had trusted you and awaited your response for sometime. Time is precious and people need to understand it and act accordingly. Leaders should never fell for forgetfulness. It is highly dangerous, which can spoil your name and fame and in turn stop others from trusting you. Trust is one of the main leadership qualities. You must be
trusted and people should think that, if you are given a work, you would finish it perfectly within deadline.

If your boss allocates ten to fifteen tasks in a week, and at the end of the day, you cannot say forgetfulness as a reason for failing to complete a task. That would show your complacency, even if it was not intentional. He will lose trust on you. You will lose your points, and that will reflect in your performance report. You may be labelled 'incapable'. There are still a lot of impacts for being forgetful. So, if you want to be a leader, you need to be aware of this enemy and try not to let him win you.

If you think, you forget often, then a good practice would be to write down all your tasks in a notepad with the status of the task beside each. If you have ten tasks to do, list out all the ten and write 'pending' beside each task. Number the tasks according to priority from 1 to 10 with 1 representing a task with highest priority. This will give you clarity in deciding which task to do first, second, third etc.  Once you complete a task, change the status from 'pending' to 'done' or 'completed'. This approach will give satisfaction to you and gives you confidence once you move on after completing a work. You can visibly see your progress written in the notepad. This will also let you complete all your tasks in time and thereby brings you a good name.

In his book, 'Thirukkural', the great Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar says,
Persistent menace of penury destroys wisdom;
forgetful complacency kills renown.
He says, as prolonged poverty destroys one's knowledge and wisdom, forgetfulness spoils one's fame. His comparisons are always beautiful and useful.

Plan For Achievable Goals

There are lot of statements to keep your confidence level high, like, "Nothing is impossible in this world", "Even impossible says i m possible" etc. Good to hear! These are statements to boost your confidence so that you can reach your achievable goals. Thinking that everything is possible in this world, one should not indulge in activities and goals which are really impossible because, there are things which are really impossible. Man cannot defeat nature. You might dream to become the richest man in the world within a month, or become a body builder overnight, but you will fail because you knew that they are impossible. Why I am saying this is to make you understand a very important concept for your life. That is
"Set measurable and achievable goals after assessing your strength".

The point has a lot to tell you from its side. A leader is the one who is capable of analysing the actions and the consequences of those actions to act accordingly. He must be able to analyse his strengths and find a better way to improve it and then set the best goal for him which is achievable with his out-of-box planning. A leader has to plan rather than just dream. Anyone can dream, anyone can plan but only leaders will execute. And if something goes wrong in your plan, you must be able to pull yourself back on track to continue working for your goal.

The message that I want you to take home is, "Set a measurable goal which gives you satisfaction. Assess your strength and chalk out a plan to achieve the goal in shortest possible time. Execute the plan by working hard and diligent till you achieve your goal". Here, the point to be highlighted is planning. You may be a positive thinker, an optimist but things may go wrong anytime in your career path. You need to have that pessimistic attitude also to excel in your career. You need to know what would happen. Don't just blindly do anything without a plan or without analysing the consequences at least to some extent so that if the consequences bother you later, you could handle easily. In his book 'Thirukkural', the great Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar says,
Those who do not assess their might, but overshoot
on ambition, invariably fall out on the way.
He demonstrates the importance of assessing one's strength and then acting accordingly through those beautiful lines. And also he says that it is not good to put too much burden on yourself which is beyond your strength. He says this through the following lines,
Be it the feathery light peacock's flume, an excess
load breaks axle of the cart carrying it.
Look at the beauty of explaining things. Even if it is very light as feathers, you cannot carry in excess, more than what you can.

Rain Water Takes The Color And Quality Of Soil It Falls On

-->

Long back, somewhere I read, "to make a child into a footbal player, you need to make him see football everywhere". This means, it is our duty to mix him with game gradually. This is done by asking him to carry a football wherever he goes, pasting posters of football players playing on the ground with passion, making him interact with football players to make him learn. If you want to shape your child the way you want, don't tell him; just shape him without making him aware that that is your intention. Why I am saying this is because, when he learns things naturally, instead of learning for some purpose, his mind would be trained better than you have expected. I always insist people to do things in a natural way. Similarly, if you want to become a great leader and excel in your career, you need to mix yourself with leaders. It matters with whom you go around with, with whom you talk and learn.

Generally speaking, if you want to learn things in a better way, catch a big fish in that particular field and go around with him wherever he goes and watch and learn whatever he does and speaks. If you learn this way, you would learn things quickly, which you would have learnt after an year, if you had started it by yourself without a guidance.

A leader can lead better when he learns from the mistake of his seniors. Always go around with leaders, talk with them and learn from them. Try to avoid bad company, which may ruin your career by diverting you from your career path. Be careful in choosing people and that too, friends because they mean a lot for you. It is useless to worry after somebody hit hard on your head with a brick. The world will identify you with the kind of friends you roam around. Thousands are out there to criticize you; don't give way for them to make their job easy. The importance of good company is well said by the great Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar, in his book 'Thirukkural',
As rain water takes the color and quality of soil it falls
on, wisdom is moulded by quality of one's company.
Look at the beautiful comparison he makes with the rain water. It all depends on with whom we live with all the day. And he also tells us how one can acquire purity of thoughts. Thiruvalluvar says,
Purity of thought and action has its origin in the integrity
and merits of the society one moves with and lives in.
He talks about the imporatant traits of a good leader. A leader, needs purity and clarity in his thoughts and actions, as you knew, one of the most important qualities of a good leader is honesty. It never comes to people easily. It comes only from the way an individual was brought up. It depends on the people with whom he lived with. So, having good leaders with you, always helps you in achieving your goal with ease and also helps you much when you face adverse situations which you cannot handle.

Cultivate Human Relationship To Lead Better

When we make a decision, we think that we are always right. We are not aware of the fact that some decisions are out of our level and we need someone else to guide us in making those decisions. When you are in a position to lead a group of people, your decisions are going to directly impact their lives. The reason for not seeking guidance of the worthy might be two. Either you might not have good relations to ask or you never ask. Both of the reasons are highly dangerous to have one of them with you. If you are of this kind, then try not to follow this at least after reading this post.

Not every decision we make would be right. There are times when your decisions might go wrong and what if the impact could not be undone? You would be in a big trouble. Do you want to afford to such risks? Never do that. In such situations, the guidance of worthy people would help you a lot. They are always ready to take you in a right path and would not let you face tough times as they did. Think of the essence of knowledge you are going to get out of their experience without you getting hurt to learn that. You will get a lot of practical ideas that can be immediately implemented in your life to make it colorful. The importance of having relationship with elders is well said by a great Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar in his book Thirukkural. He says,
To develop and cultivate friendship of the worthy, and
To follow their noble path is strength of strengths.
The relationship gives to strength and confidence to lead. You will not face the risk of misleading your team to failure. You will know the effect of your actions and how it’s going to affect all of you, as it is well measured. Even if you are good at making decisions, at least to make sure that your decision is right, you need the help of your elders who are proficient in your field. For example, I use to exercise daily and I have my own creative set of exercises which are different from what others usually do. But, I always had a doubt, what if something go wrong? Am I doing it in the right way? Then I started to make relationship with elders who had such experience in work outs and verified my work outs with them and I was happy that they are perfectly accepted to use. Now, my confidence level soared and I can practice it henceforth without the distraction of doubts. Even if someone asks me, I can lead them with my own methods without having fear of failure. This is a simple example to make everybody understand the importance. In his book ‘Thirukkural’, the great Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar says,
The leader who has no regard for advice of the
Wise to play safe, leads his own way to ruin.

He asks the leaders to play safe with the help of elders by taking measurable risks, whose effects are well determined. So, start making friendship with worthy people. Nowadays, you are blessed with technology and you can make friendship with anyone in and around the world without even seeing them. Social networking sites and blogs make your job much easier. You can spend time in making good relationships through them.

Improve Your Communication Skill

When people talk about the importance of soft skills, the first skill that their mouth would utter is the communication skill. What is this communication all about? Does it mean only speaking or anything else? Does it refer only to communication in English? You will get the answers for all these questions here in this post and you are at the right place to get started.

Communication skill is the ability of expressing your thoughts to your audience in a clear and unambiguous manner. It may be through writing or speaking and it is not language-specific. Let it be any language, but you need to carry your thoughts clearly to your audience. Language is a tool used to carry your thoughts and deliver it to others. So, to deliver it in the form of speech or black and white, you need proficiency in a language that could be understood by your audience. This is one of the basic qualities needed for a good communicator.

Well, now let me tell you the basic components that are needed to build good communication skill and how to acquire them. The first and the foremost component is your thoughts or ideas, without which there is no meaning is communicating. You must have something to say to your audience. They are there to observe some of your ideas and it is very important for you to have the correct flow of thoughts to express whatever you have planned to express.

The second component is the proficiency in a language that could be understood by your audience. Language, as I told you, is a tool to carry your ideas to the listeners and is better than non-verbal communication lke expressing your ideas using some actions. If you are not familiar with the commonly used words in a language then, you will fail to express your thoughts clearly to others. Apart from familiarising the words, you should be able to put those words together and form a sentence that means something what you have planned to say. When you speak before your friends, no matter whatever mistakes you do, they do not care. But, in case of others, you need to be careful in using words if you are not quite familiar with the language you are speaking with them.

Both these componenets are essential for building good communication skill. Even if you say, you are good at one of these, I am sorry, your quality becomes useless without the other. Both, your thoughts and language, are tightly coupled and you need to master both to survive in this competitive world. In India, we talk a lot about employability, This communication skill is the first and foremost trait to achieve employability.

IMPORTANCE OF ENGLISH:

As we were discussing, there are a lot of languages out there to express your thoughts to a wider audience. But, the most commonly used and appreciated language is the English language. It has become essential for everyone of us to learn this language to survive in this world, since it is widely used in and around the world. There are lot of reasons available for you on the earth for why you should learn English. But, the point is you have to learn it. Some of the useful and justified reasons are,
  • English is used widely.
  • Most of the materials are available in English language only.
  • It is used as a common language to communicate with each other if two persons of different regions meet.
You might hate English but you have no other choice. If you are not interested, then simply develop interest. Start from your interested areas and then read wider. You have to read read and read to master this language. As I told you before, you need to be proficient in reading, writing and speaking to be a good communicator. I will tell you how to acquire this altogether by following some simple steps daily,

Read a newspaper daily and don't forget to read the editorial page. If you find it difficult to understand, have a dictionary with you always while reading.

Subscribe for a monthly or weekly magazine and read it regularly.

Read your favourite novels and stories.

Subscribe for dictionary.com 'Word of the day' to get a word daily in your mobile or mail box. This will improve your vocabulary. Remember, contextual learning of words will improve your vocabulary that remains in your mind forever. Don't memorise hundreds of words overnight to acquire mastery. It is an attempt to fail.

Watch English movies. This helps you in your speaking style and accent. While referring a dictionary also you need to refer the pronunciation for the word you refer.

Try to use the words you learnt by writing to or speaking with someone. This will fix the words firmly in your mind.

Write a snippet daily and correct it by giving it to someone else who is good at these skills.

Speak a few words about a topic daily and try to analyse your flow of thoghts and how difficult it is for you to express.

Asking Too Many Questions Will Not Demonstrate Smartness

Last week I went to a leadership seminar in which a big fish from the top management of a well know enterprise shared his knowledge. I went half an hour earlier and was having a chat with some of the professionals and managers who came there for the seminar. Surprisingly, they were discussing about how to ask some reasonable number of questions to the guy who was yet to come to share his knowledge on the importance of leadership and his company's strategies for the future. I wondered why these people are preparing questions that too with a motive to impress him with questions. Can questions demonstrate smartness and impress others? I don't think so. Not only in this programme, but also in most of the training programmes that I have been attending so far, people are planning to shoot out questions with an attitude that asking questions will create a good impression in the trainer's mind. Of course, it does but not every time and if you ask questions intentionally to impress him, you will be caught soon.

Asking a question is good but it should not be used as a tool to grab others attention towards you or to make others think that you are the only person who has the knowledge of the subject discussed. Questions should be posted only with an attitude to learn new concepts or clarify concepts that you have already learnt or currently learning. When you attend a leadership seminar or training programme, you should always keep your mind open for new ideas to come in. Do not stick around with what you have learnt in the past and sit with those thoughts in the programme. It will not let you get the core idea of the programme. One thing you can do is to relate the ideas which are in your mind to the current ideas being taught and answer the questions posted to you. This is the one which is going to demonstrate smartness and your interest in the subject thereby creating a good impression in the mind of the person who is standing in front of you to make you understand his ideas.

First of all, a leader needs to be good listener. If you are in a training program, try to observe whatever is taught to you and make sure you come out of the presentation hall with clarity in thoughts. To ensure this you may ask questions. This is a healthy approach. And remember, in any training programme, your answers should be more than your questions. This is going to impress everybody around you. People always follow the person who resolves an issue rather than raise an issue. You should solve problems rather than raise problems.

The way you answer also counts. A perfect leader's answers should be unambiguous and to the point. It should not be evasive at any point. He should be able to extract the essence of idea from his mind and express it in a crisp and precise format that can be understood by everyone. This is one of the best soft skills a leader has to acquire to demonstrate his clarity of knowledge.

The feel of satisfaction and happiness fills up a teacher's mind when he or she comes to know that his or her ideas have reached the students successfully. You try to give it by your answers.

Learn From Others' Mistakes

Learning from mistakes is a key to success for a leader. This is a well known fact. A leader has to analyse his mistakes and work on himself to make sure that the next time it doesn't happen. Alright. If one has to learn from his own mistakes alone, then it would take hundreds of years for him to learn something. Then he has to confront all the problems on the earth to learn the necessary lesson. The point I am trying to make here is, please learn from others' mistakes. This is a 're-use era'. There is a lot of meaning in this sentence and I am going to give some useful examples to make this point clear.

You are facing a lot of problems in your day to day life from a small AC repair to a big mistake in your office document and many more. You might have problems with your girl friend, your parents, friends or in office. Do you think, you are the one who has all these problems? Do you think that these problems are unique to you? Never. Almost all the problems had been faced and solutions had been recorded in peoples' minds, books, blogs, social networking sites. You just have to make use of it. Even the great leadership guru Robin Sharma says this in his first best selling book.

Why do our elders are very eager to advise the younger generation? They don't want them to make the same mistakes that they had done when they where young. Whenever elders express their opinion on an issue, don't forget to listen to it as you might get a better solution than your solution for a problem you are currently facing. Of course, one of the leadership traits is listening and responding to your fellow beings.

Even in management studies, why should they go for case studies rather than mere theory subjects? A Case study is an essence of ideas that carry a solution to a particular problem. As I told you, every issue has been resolved and in near future the probability of occurence of a unique problem is zero. People, who resolved, are ready to happily disclose their solutions to you. Why not you take it? Go out for peolpe, autobiographies, blogs to observe the experience of others so that you will not put you or your family in risk. Suppose, you want to buy a car and if you never consult with others for their experience then you not only put yourself under risk but also your family.

Don't think that discovering a solution to each and every problem by yourself is like achieving something great! You are putting yourself into tuff times. Trying everything by yourself and then learning from that is not a good idea for this generation which adopts to changes quicker than the previous did. If you want your child to be a perfect individual, you can't just leave him to experience everything and learn. If so, then what is the point in caring him? Why do you need to advise him? To make him perfect, let him learn some lessons by himself but there are some lessons which you have to sit and teach.

Why Do You Need FOCUS?

I have seen people posting a lot of reasons for their failure in achieving their goals and more often than not, they blame the so called ‘fate’. Some ridiculous statements posted by them make one to think that, these guys never walk their talk. Most people just talk but don’t do what they talk and they give a lot of excuses and reasons for their incapability. They never analyze the cause for the failure and try to rectify it. In software industry, we call it as root cause analysis, which can be applied to a real life problem also. Without analyzing the root cause of a problem, people just mull over the top layer of the problem and having thought that it would not be possible for them to solve, they leave the scene. Their conclusion will not only affect them but also the future generations who would also follow the same solution given by their ancestors.

ROOT CAUSE:

Well, what is that root cause, which makes people to fail in their attempts, even if it goes to tens of attempts? I’ve the answer for this question and you would be surprised to see that simple answer. In most cases, the root cause was, LACK OF FOCUS. Quite simple, isn’t it? Yes, of course, but it has tons of meaning in it. Don’t think ‘FOCUS’ as a usual word uttered by your father, mother or your teacher. They say because they knew the importance of the word and now, you will also come to know why I emphasize on ‘FOCUS’.

WHY ‘FOCUS’?

Let me explain you with a simple example. Suppose you have a task to be completed in ten days and you’ve started to work on it from today. You have a very good plan with you to execute it so that you can finish it well before the deadline. During this ten day tenure, think of the number of obstacles and temptations that might drag you out of your path and drive you away from your goal. Your friends might call you for a party or tour which might kill a couple of days. One of your relatives might fall ill and you might be the person to take care of him/her. Your girl friend would need some time from your schedule to spend with her. Apart from all these external obstacles, you would have some internal temptations to spoil your work. Your favorite novel would be waiting for you with the last chapter to be completed. You might be dreaming of the brand new Yamaha that is going to be delivered to you in a couple of days. And no doubt, the dream of what would happen if you complete your task successfully. You would dream as if you completed the task successfully and your boss is appreciating you in front of your colleagues with a pack of a thousand bugs. Amidst all these obstacles, how are you going to stay focused on your task? Is it possible for you? Or is it possible for anyone? Yes, it is possible, but, it is your talent to make it possible for you. The one who gets through amidst all these obstacles deserves to have the title, ‘WINNER’. He will reap the benefits for the hard work he made to fight these obstacles and temptations. After all, his FOCUS would give him what he wanted.

PHILOSOPHY:

I always try to explain you from a philosophical perspective. Simple concepts can be used to determine bigger theories. That’s why you learn mathematical induction. That’s why you write a simple computer program before writing a complex one. The point here is both are going to work in a similar way, so with a small sample you can frame the entire theory, no matter, whatever size may be the program. In the similar fashion, by observing simple things you would be able to derive amazing truths and realities. I will tell you an example to make you understand the importance of focus from a simple example. If you cut an apple with a sharp knife, you can cut it easily than with a blunt one. Do you know why? Science gives you the answer. In case of sharp knife, pressure is applied at a particular point, whereas in blunt knife, it is distributed and not focused at a particular point. This simple thing will help you in deriving an amazing theory which is,”If you focus all your concentration on a particular work, you will get through”.

Even meditation follows the same principle. During meditation, you will face a lot of obstacles which are in the form of images that would not let you focus on a particular point. In spite of all these obstacles, one who focuses his mind will reap the benefits. I tell you, there is no better medicine in this world than meditation. It has the power to fine-tune your body and soul to perfection. It has the solution for all your problems. This is the one which our ancient saints were trying to teach us. In all their messages to mankind, there will be a direct or indirect reference to meditation. If I talk about meditation, I need some tens of posts to explain you. Now, all I want you to take home is just ‘FOCUS’.

How To Balance Between Your Friends And Work?

In college, most of us preferred to be in the back benches as we could enjoy our college days with our close friends who were of our frequency. When the exams knocked at our doors, we would form groups among ourselves on the previous day of the start of the examinations and would plan to learn the whole night. We demonstrated our smiling face on the day when our exam results got published, as the marks would be more than enough for the kind of preparation we made. Gone are those beautiful days!!!

WORKPLACE:

In our college days, we were inclined to socializing and not to knowledge acquisition. It doesn't mean that we didn't try to acquire knowledge but we gave higher priority to our friends, parties, and games rather than to our knowledge, books and exams. When we come to a workplace, everything changes. We would be surprised to see people talking seriously about work which we usually didn't do in our college days. The practices which we laughed at would become our day-to-day activities. We could not be in the back bench anymore.

I am not trying to threaten you, instead, I wish to make you understand that we need to have our own set of ethical rules to abide by, apart from workplace policies. It is inevitable for anyone who wants to be a leader. I will be happy if you stick to these rules even from your college. I don't insisting you to stop roaming around with friends, attending parties etc, but want to emphasize the importance of sticking to basic ethical rules and policies wherever you go. Work and friends: you need to know how to balance them. There lies the secret of success. Hello dude! come to the middle!!!

Keeping The Spirit Alive Will Make The Difference

I have heard people saying, "I will start doing exercise regularly from tomorrow". Some say, "I will start to prepare for my competitive examination from tomorrow". Some uncommon resolution would be, "From tomorrow, I am going to meditate, exercise, and read my syllabus regularly". But, how many of them followed their own attractive resolution? Not surprisingly they were a handful. We always try to boast ourselves by posting such statements in front of our friends and relatives, but hardly follow them till the end. One factor that can make you stand out of all your fellow beings is keeping the confidence, concentration and spirit alive till the end. Suppose you play soccer and you win a tough match, I say, only those three factors, confidence, concentration and spirit,  have helped you to grab the trophy. If you have got a very good physique then, I am sure it would be a reward for your hard work in ground or gym. It is the result for which you got up early in the morning and spent tough times at the ground when everybody had a sound sleep. Here also, those factors get into the frame. When you got through a competitive exam or an entrance exam or an exam for a job offer, then it would remind you your sleepless nights mulling over heavy weight books, which has rewarded you. That success is the product of your fighting till the end.

Whatever you do, do it with confidence. Then concentrate and continue with the same spirit till you finish it. Common people will give up after crossing half the ocean. But, to drink success, you need to continue your fight till you cross the ocean. The difference is how you handle the final moments. It depends on how cool and confident you are in adverse situations, which always come at last! Remember the three words, be confident, concentrate and continue, of course, in that order!

Don't Make Me Wait, It Provokes

One of the qualities you must possess to fine tune yourself to perfection is to let not anyone wait for you. May it be a business meeting or a personal meeting, making people to wait, will not only create a bad impression on you but also provokes them since they might have given you an appointment which would have cost some other important work. If you fly to reach the meeting place before them, then it will show your respect for them, your commitment for the work and therefore show yourself.

Even if you are very much interested in the meeting, your unpleasant action will carry a different thought to the audience. Only way is to express what you think, in your action. Let it be a miniature advertisement for you. In business or in personal life, a little advertising is necessary to grab the audience's heart. How can you express that you are very much interested in a meeting? Not merely through words, but through action. Suppose you arrange a meeting with a person. Reach the meeting place in time. At least pretend as if you were waiting for him. After he arrives, welcome him with a big smile such that the non-verbal action should carry an image to him that you are very much happy on seeing him. Depending upon his relation to you, you can hug, shake hands, or just smile. But, the goal is one and only one.

Why Not Try To Utilize Others' Blog?

Gone are the days when people moved around the globe in search of a skilled consultant for their career or business. Nowadays, one can get any kind of information in a single mouse click. The arrival of Internet technology made our life much easier. Everybody started to create his or her own email id and I tell you, in the near future, each and everyone in this earth is gonna have an email account. Okay, what is the next revolution after email? Can you guess? I would say, It’s gonna be blogs. If this doesn’t surprise you, then I will tell you one more idea to surprise you. What can one do with his blog? Add his own content, invite friends, personalize the pages and advertise him. Have you ever thought how one can use others’ blogs cleverly? Probably, most of us use others blog as a tool for advertising our own blog. But, if you have a different perception for blogs, you will not only become a great problem solver and leader but also, a clever business man.

WHAT IS THAT PERCEPTION?

As I said before, blog revolution has begun and each one is gonna have a blog to showcase his or her personal and professional lives. Besides sharing their experiences online, bloggers will also respond to the questions posted by the viewers. This will not only enable a visitor to gain knowledge and experience that a blogger share with him, but also let him have a consultation for a free of cost!!! No blogger charges for answering questions. Blogger might be a manager, educational consultant, mentor, a project manager or even a CEO of a company. Think of, you’re gonna consult with such big fishes for a minimum or no cost!! Is it not one of the wonderful uses of a blog? And one more thing is that, if a blogger responds well, he will get more traffic for his blog and hence a win-win situation. It’s up to you to catch all those top guys’ blogs and chase them with your questions to become a good real-time problem solver and decision maker. It’s after all a business idea to cut your consulting cost!!!

Nothing Will Come Overnight

Often I find ludicrous statements, like, “short cut to achieve success”, “become a billionaire in a year”, “Speak English fluently in 30 days”, which not only provoke me but also make me think how people trust those ridiculous statements and approach the source that utter those statements. One must understand that there is nothing called a “short cut” for solving a problem in your life. You cannot master a beautiful language like English in 30 days. You cannot become a billionaire in 365 days. If you had seen someone becoming a billionaire in 365 days and deny what I say, then, probably he would be one among a billion, a rare case. You cannot anticipate the same thing happen to you.

EXPOSE TO PROBLEMS:

Often you would have got bored on hearing the cliche, “Practice makes perfection”, which is uttered by most experienced human beings. Most of us would not have lent our ears to those words since they seem to be simple and to have a common meaning known to all. But, my question to you is, do you follow those words? Do you practice? ‘Practice’ is not a word reserved only for sports or your higher secondary mathematics exam, but it is for every problem that you confront in your day-to-day life.

WHAT I MEAN?

“Change will be and should be gradual”. Take for example; the change occurs in our environment, mountains around us, trees, lakes, or even take our own body, change occurs very slowly.  Have you seen any one grown and stood as a giant near you in a single night, after drinking a famous energy drink that you see in daily advertisements?  Whatever you do to enrich your body’s muscles, nature has its own restrictions. Nothing will come to you overnight. You need to work on it for a long time and in fact gradually.

Why does Microsoft release various versions of Windows? Why don’t they just add all possible functionalities in a single pack and give it to you? It is not practically possible. The software must confront practical problems slowly, day-by-day and report for a solution. Then engineers start to fine tune the software to perfection releasing versions one by one. It is of course a gradual change.

Why do companies search for experienced candidates than fresh graduates?  Because, they have more exposure to problems. They would have faced more problems than a fresh graduate in their field. The more experience, the more exposure. When you expose to problems, you will find a similar problem in the future, easier to solve. You don’t need to toddle in solving those problems as you would not be new. This is what I say, practice with problems. Wherever you go, commit yourself with problems and dash yourself with problems. Day by day you will see how comfortable you are when you face new issues.

Learning a language like English is not just mulling over a book containing a thousand words and pushing those into your memory. It is not something that you can get through in a meager 30 days. It would take years to master such a language. You need to read a lot and bring out your own words to achieve the mastery. You need to develop reading, writing and speaking skills. Apart from these analytical skills are very much essential to enjoy reading. You know? I just have told you a handful. You need to cross the language ocean to familiarize the language to some extent. In such a case, how can you believe in a short cut method? No short cut for learning English, remember the mantra, “Change will be and should be gradual”

Have passion for learning new things, which would help you in climbing up the career ladder. Face your problems with confidence. Learn good characters from everyone and fine tune yourself to perfection. Become a lovable person by picking up the beautiful flowers as you walk through your life garden.
